An hour of Mindfulness in the shade of the thousand-year-old pine forest of Milano Marittima with Giovanni Canali, Psychologist.
This course is designed for those who wish to approach Mindfulness and discover a different way of getting in touch with the present moment. We often live immersed in speed, habits and automatic thoughts. Mindfulness invites us instead to slow down, to observe with curiosity what is happening inside and outside of us, developing a greater awareness of our experiences. Through simple guided practices, we will be taken on a journey of discovery made up of attention, listening and presence.
Each meeting will offer a different experience, designed to gradually explore some fundamental aspects of awareness. No previous experience is required: just curiosity and willingness to get involved.
Mindfulness is a way of experiencing the self and the world around us in the here and now, or as Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, would say, of "paying attention in a particular way: intentionally, in the present moment and in a non-judgmental way".
It is a practice that over time leads to improved psychological, relational and physical well-being and can therefore be applied to alleviate suffering, stress and discomfort.
PROGRAMME:
1st appointment
Friday 22 May at 18.30 | Introduction to Mindfulness
The first meeting will be dedicated to discovering mindfulness and its significance in everyday life. Through a brief introduction we will explore what it means to bring intentional attention to the present moment and how this simple skill can help us reduce stress and improve our relationship with ourselves and what we experience every day.
Sultana meditation
We will be guided through a first practical experience that will allow us to look at something very simple and familiar with new eyes. Often, caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we do not realise how many details and sensations escape us. This exercise will allow us to rediscover the richness of the present experience through attention and curiosity.
2nd appointment
Wednesday 10 June at 18.30 | Listening to oneself
In the second meeting the focus will be on the body, one of the main places where we can learn to recognise what is going on inside us. Often in everyday life we ignore our body's signals or only become aware of tensions when they become very intense.
Body Scan
Through a guided practice we will learn to slow down and listen with greater awareness to physical sensations, developing an attitude of acceptance and non-judgement towards what emerges. This experience will help cultivate a more attentive and gentle relationship with one's own body.
3rd appointment
Saturday 29 August 6.30 pm | The Breath and Anchoring in the Present
The third meeting will be dedicated to the breath, one of the simplest and at the same time most powerful tools in the practice of Mindfulness. The breath is always present and can become a stable reference point to return to when the mind gets lost in thoughts, worries or the distractions of everyday life. Learning to observe the breath allows one to find a space of calm and presence.
Breath meditation and Mindfulness walk
During the meeting we will try out some practices that will help develop this capacity for attention, discovering how mindfulness can accompany us not only in moments of stillness, but also during movement and the simplest activities.
4th appointment
Saturday 26 September 9.30 a.m. | Thoughts and images
In the last meeting we will explore the relationship with thoughts and mental images. We are often so immersed in our thoughts that we identify completely with them. Mindfulness invites us instead to take a step back and observe what is happening in the mind with greater clarity and kindness.
Guided meditation
Through a guided practice we are guided to recognise thoughts as mental events that arise, transform and fade away. This allows us to develop a more open and less reactive look at what is happening within us.
You can also purchase a subscription ticket that will allow you to attend all 4 appointments at a special price!
Tickets:
Participation fee € 15
You can also purchase the season ticket which will allow you to attend all 4 dates at € 48 instead of € 60.

Mindfulness is a practice of awareness that combines the experience of ancient meditative techniques with some aspects of today's most modern theories related to cognitive therapy.
